What is the guarantee with Velux products?

Velux windows come with a 10-year guarantee on all core products. On blinds, shutters and electrical products they offer a 3-year guarantee. They also offer up to 25 years availability on spare parts.

What is the guarantee for the installation of Velux products?

We guarantee the installation and associated works for 10 years. This covers any leaks from around the windows as a result of the installation. We do not cover any leaks caused by faults in any other areas of the roof or structure.

Do you need planning permission to install a Velux roof window?

You do not need planning permission for a roof window in normal circumstances. If you live in a conservation area, then you may need permission. This should be checked with your local authority before any work begins.

Do we need building regulations to install a new Velux roof window?

With a new window installation, you will need building regulations to pass the structural opening formed in the roof, this is the responsibility of the homeowner. You do not need building regulations if you are just replacing an existing roof window.

What is the process for getting work done?

Once contact has been made a visit would be booked to go through your job and discuss your requirements. A free quotation would then be sent. If the quote is accepted, then we can book the job in for an agreed start date.

Do you offer labour only carpentry services?

We are happy to offer labour only carpentry services which can be based on a price or on a daily labour charge.

Do we need to pay a deposit or any money up front?

If we are supplying Velux products, we usually take a £200 deposit to confirm the order of the products. If it is a basic replacement job, we the carry out the installation and request a final payment on completion. If there are more than 2x windows being supplied, we would request a material payment on the day before the products are delivered or brought to the site. The remaining balance would then be due on completion of the works. For other works if there are any “to order products” then the cost of these would need to be paid before materials are delivered. On larger projects a payment schedule would be agreed prior to any works commencing.
